Goat Milk and Secrets For Better Living
We raise ADGA registered Nubian goats here on the farm. These wonderful creatures provide the sweetest milk on earth and, even more important, are more fun than you can imagine.
Our Nubians help us to live better, healthier lives by providing their wonderful milk, which is filled with vitamins and nutrients that the body needs and thrives on.
Unlike cow's milk (which I also love), goat's milk does not contain an ingredient called agglutinin. Therefore, the fat globules in goat's milk do not cluster together, which makes them easier to digest. As a result of the smaller fat globules, goat's milk is naturally "homogenized." Consequently, my husband's acid reflux all but went away completely after he started drinking the milk from our goats.
Some studies have shown that goat's milk may have advantages when it comes to allergies. It contains only trace amounts of an allergenic casein protein, alpha-S1, which is found in cow's milk. This makes goat's milk more like human milk. Goat's milk also contains slightly lower levels of lactose (4.1 percent versus 4.7 percent in cow's milk); therefore, some lactose-intolerant folks may fare better with goat's milk.
Goat's milk contains 13 percent more calcium, 25 percent more vitamin B-6, 47 percent more vitamin A, 134 percent more potassium, and three times more niacin than cow's milk. Needless to say, I am a huge fan. :-)
